Serena Williams has another gold medal.

The reigning Wimbledon champion returned Saturday to the grass surface of Centre Court (the tennis venue at the London Games) to compete against Russia’s Maria Sharapova in the women’s singles final – and dominated.

Williams, who served three aces in the opening game, beat her opponent 6-0, 6-1.

After the match point, Williams shouted for joy, jumped around on the grass and did a victory dance while her sister, Venus Williams, smiled from the stands.

The Williams sisters won Olympic doubles Olympic gold in 2000 at the Games in Sydney and in 2008 at the Games in Beijing. They are scheduled to play a doubles semifinal match later Saturday afternoon.

But Serena has never won singles gold.

“I didn’t expect this. I can’t even … Oh my gosh – I have a gold medal in the singles! I never thought … Wow,” and overwhelmed Williams said immediately after wining the match.

She added: “I didn’t think it could get any better than winning Wimbledon. You see how happy I am I don’t even know what to do.”
